Rally Day – March 21, 2023Įvery other year when the Texas Legislature is in session, TAAHP, the Texas Association of Local Housing Finance Agencies (TALHFA), and Rural Rental Housing Association of Texas (RRHA) host a Rally Day and reception in Austin, Texas. This function allows TAAHP members to easily contact their elected officials with a message in support or opposition to a particular bill or issue. Throughout the session, TAAHP will launch multiple advocacy campaigns for high-priority housing bills. You can also contact them directly on the advocacy center. Information is available about who represents you in the Texas Legislature, and the Texas delegation in the U.S. Through the advocacy center, you can search for legislation and see the housing-related bills that TAAHP is tracking. They may also submit written testimony or simply sign a statement in general support or opposition of any given legislation being heard in committee. TAAHP government affairs leadership creates the association’s strategy for the upcoming legislative session in terms of proposed legislation and TAAHP’s response to other legislation being consideredĪt legislative hearings, TAAHP leaders and members may testify in support or opposition to proposed bills. Upon approval, TAAHP prioritizes issues and corresponding proposed legislation. The final recommendations from each subcommittee are submitted to the full Government Affairs Committee and TAAHP’s Executive Board for consideration.
